Namibia

I had the chance to visit Namibia during the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns, where I stayed for two months working remotely. With its vast landscapes and quiet solitude, Namibia gave me a sense of freedom unlike anywhere else. The beauty of the open desert, the wild animals in Etosha, and the towering dunes of Sossusvlei left a lasting impression on me. Every weekend, I found myself heading out on new adventures, and the country’s unique mix of remoteness and diversity made it a perfect retreat.

Why November is Perfect for Namibia

November is the ideal time to visit Namibia. The weather is warm, but not uncomfortably hot, and the days are long, allowing you to explore more without rushing. It’s also a transition month between seasons, meaning fewer crowds and more peaceful experiences. The wildlife is particularly active, especially around waterholes in Etosha National Park, offering great opportunities for game viewing.

Another advantage of visiting Namibia in November is that it’s just before the holiday season rush. You can take your time exploring this vast country without feeling pressured by high-season tourism. The clear skies and warm days make November perfect for camping under the stars or driving along Namibia’s iconic long, empty roads.

Laos

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Laos twice—once in 2010 and again in 2023. While Southeast Asia has grown more crowded and commercial, Laos retains its serene and unspoiled charm. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the quiet beauty of the temples in Luang Prabang and the laid-back lifestyle of the locals. During my recent visit, I found that Laos has managed to hold onto its peaceful atmosphere, even as other countries in the region are getting busier.

Why November is Perfect for Laos:

November marks the start of the dry season in Laos, making it an excellent time to explore without worrying about monsoon rains. The weather is mild, and the countryside is lush after the rainy season. This makes it perfect for enjoying the waterfalls, rivers, and trekking routes in the cooler temperatures. Plus, the crowds are still small, offering a more intimate experience in the temples and towns.

Another reason to visit Laos in November is that it’s still an affordable destination. Unlike its neighboring countries, Laos hasn’t been overrun by mass tourism, so you can experience its rich culture and natural beauty without the hustle and bustle of larger crowds. November’s pleasant weather ensures you can enjoy the beauty of Laos at its best.

Oman

Oman has always been one of my favorite road-trip destinations. I’ve been lucky enough to visit several times, and every time I go, November stands out as the best month to travel. The roads are open and scenic, the weather is cool and pleasant, and Oman’s varied landscapes—ranging from deserts to mountains—offer an unforgettable experience. Whether I was camping in the dunes or exploring ancient forts, I’ve never been disappointed by Oman’s charm.

Why November is Perfect for Oman:

November is Oman’s shoulder season, which means prices are still reasonable, but the weather has cooled down from the intense summer heat. It’s the perfect time to explore Oman’s outdoor wonders, like the Wahiba Sands desert or the Jebel Akhdar mountains. Whether you’re hiking, camping, or driving through Omani villages, the mild temperatures make November an ideal month to be outdoors.

With fewer tourists in November, Oman feels even more authentic. The roads are quieter, and you can enjoy the country’s rich culture and stunning landscapes at your own pace. From the beaches of Musandam to the ancient forts of Nizwa, Oman in November has something for every traveler.

Chilean Patagonia

Back in 2018, I had the chance to hike through Chilean Patagonia, and it remains one of the most breathtaking experiences of my life. The rugged peaks, glaciers, and turquoise lakes are unlike anything else I’ve seen in the world. The vast, open spaces made me feel small in the best way possible, and the long summer days allowed for endless exploration.

Why November is Perfect for Chilean Patagonia:

November marks the start of summer in the Southern Hemisphere, making it the ideal time for hiking and outdoor activities in Patagonia. The weather is cool but pleasant, and the crowds haven’t yet descended for the peak season. The landscape is at its most stunning, with wildflowers in bloom and snow-capped peaks creating dramatic vistas.

This is also the start of the Antarctic cruise season, offering travelers the opportunity to embark on once-in-a-lifetime expeditions to the southernmost parts of the planet. November in Patagonia means long daylight hours and perfect conditions for those looking to explore this remote region.

The Philippines

The Philippines has always been a favorite of mine for island-hopping and beach escapes. My last trip in 2016 took me to several islands, and despite the country’s growth in tourism, it still holds its charm. The crystal-clear waters, friendly locals, and vibrant island life keep drawing me back.

Why November is Perfect for the Philippines:

November is the start of the dry season in the Philippines, and it’s also a quieter time to visit before the peak holiday crowds arrive. The weather is warm and sunny, but it’s not yet overly hot, making it perfect for beach trips, diving, and island hopping. This is the perfect time to see the natural beauty of the Philippines at its best, with fewer tourists and better prices.

The Philippines’ stunning islands offer countless opportunities for exploration and relaxation. From the lagoons of Palawan to the beaches of Cebu, November is a month where you can truly experience the country’s beauty without the typical rush of high-season tourism.
